Dear MISD Families,
MISD has a lot of things happening and we want to make sure you are well aware of all the events taking place!
Fundraising Events:

Annual Giving Campaign
The Annual Giving Campaign is a time in which we bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost of operating a genuine Montessori school, as well as offering financial support to our current families, providing opportunities for teacher professional development, and ultimately enabling us to maintain the level of quality we have always provided. We have a goal to reach $50,000 and we are asking for 100% participation. In addition to current families, many grandparents, alumni families, and friends make donations every year. Every gift, no matter how small is valued and useful. You can donate by visiting our website or by bringing in a check or cash to the Children’s House Office.

Paint for a Cause
On Saturday, November 18th at 8:30 am, at The LOT in La Jolla, MISD will be teaming up with Rady Children’s Hospital and reaching out for the support of the larger community in a joint fundraising effort. This event, comprised of painting a community mural will benefit us greatly. “Bubbles” (painted circles on the parking lot wall) will be available for purchase and can be painted by children, adults or community groups. “Paint for a Cause” will then be donating 60% of its proceeds to Rady Children’s Hospital Copley Psychiatric Emergency Department and 40% to our school. The media will be covering this event so please consider attending and showing your MISD support and invite your family and friends!

Material Making:
Thank you to those who joined our first Material Making event! The teachers were so appreciative and impressed with all the material that was made for them. Our next event is on Wednesday, October 15th.

Safety Drills:
As some of your children may have told you, we have been busy practicing our drills the past two weeks. We started with a fire drill where we practiced how we would evacuate. This week we practiced our earthquake drill and showed the children how to stop, drop, cover and hold on.
These are important drills to practice in the event we have an emergency, however, they are also important topics to discuss at home. How would your family evacuate? Do you have an emergency plan? We encourage you to begin thinking and creating a plan for your family.
